Bead Bracelets – Make At Home

Make Bead Bracelets At Home

As in nearly all jewelry, you have the choice of purchasing bracelets at the store or making your own bead bracelets. What is great about making your own beaded bracelets is that given enough time, you can match just about any color in your wardrobe… or future wardrobe. So, if you are into beads and beading and want to start going the homemade route, you can pick up your beads either on the internet or through a local craft store. I know that we have a bead store just about 5 miles from our house.

Bead bracelets can be made specifically for shorts, designer jeans, blouses, dresses, prom dresses, wedding dresses, and even your boyfriend or husband might like a custom bracelet.

Although you can improvise, my suggestion is to have a project in front of you before you start. I like to have a plain white or black cloth that covers my working area, which usually ends up being my kitchen table.. Although I do end up using different color cloths, the main thought behind this cloth is that I do end up using it as a background/backdrop when I take pictures of my work.

Will you be working with beads that are all one type of material? Do glass beads catch your eye? How about metal beads or better yet, how about making your own clay beads?

This is the list that I use to start out every project that involves bead bracelets.

  • Project design
  • Size of the beads
  • Number of Beads
  • Bead Organizer (Optional)
  • Bead Stopper (Optional)
  • Crimps
  • Clasps
  • Bead (wire or elastic)
  • Pliers (regular or crimping)

If you’ve decided to make bead bracelets at home, be sure to string your beads one at a time. Carefully follow the design that you’ve laid out before starting. As soon as you’ve purchased all the materials you need for your bead and wire jewelry project, it’s time to think of how you’ll design your bracelets.

Take time out to reward yourself by creating your very own jewelry. One of the easiest ways to get into this hobby is by heading over to your local grocery store and picking up a bead magazine. Leaf through the magazine and when you get some good looking designs in your head, see if you can then find a local bead store. Show the workers the type of design that you wish to create. Most bead stores offer classes where starting with the basics, you can easily start making your own jewelry. Within no time at all you will be making your own bead bracelets.
